Visualisation, a practical tool that helps you fulfil your goals, dreams & aspirations, enhancing your overall wellbeing through deeply sensory experiences using guided imagery!
Picture your deepest desires as vividly as you can, making use of all your senses, not just the visual ones, but the colours, the sounds, the smells, the tastes and even the sense of touch. Visualising, is worth attempting as there is no one way of doing it and this will enhance your experience. Using one sense more than another if that works better for you, and use your memories if that helps, but take what comes to you without judgment or preconceived ideas.
Scientific research that was conducted mainly in the US using brain imaging of Buddhist monks’ brains (so-called ‘contemplative neuroscience’), showed that when we imagine we do a movement, the same area of motor cortex lights up as when we actually do that movement, just slightly less so. Our autonomous nervous system doesn’t differentiate between a real experience or an experience that may be imagined quite vividly.
Visualisation is a fantastic tool because our bodies do not discriminate between the sensory images in the mind and what we call reality. Images in the mind are real events in the body, so when we combine these three operating principles together we introduce images to the mind that the body believes are actual events, and by doing this in the altered state and doing it when, how, and where we want to, enables you to have at your command a unique, powerful, and versatile technique of guided imagery.
By imagining it happening in a positive way, part of our brain thinks we have already been able to do it properly and we become more confident, less nervous and more able to know our successes! When we work with imagery we always take the time to calm down, relax our body, then once we have worked with the image we let it go and listen to how we are feeling.
How amazing, therefore, to have this incredible tool available to us that has the potential to prepare you for an exam, an interview, or sporting event, public speaking or settle your nerves before a stage show, there are simply no limits to the benefits one can experience with this type of practice.
“When we concentrate on our breathing, we bring body and mind back together and become whole again.”
