Sophro Dynamic Relaxation exercises (SDR) will help because imagining your best future self is the foundation of positivity that enhances inner self-confidence. Get physical with your conscience as layer upon layer of tension releases to clear space in your body & mind that provides freedom from stress & anxiety, allowing more enjoyment & happiness in life!
Open your mind and you can achieve a calmer sense of serenity!
-Natalie, Sophrologist-
Sophrology was built on Eastern and Western fundamentals from Buddhism, Yoga and Zen inspired by it’s creator Professor Caycedo in the early 1960’s as these methods use the same principles but were easier to use, adapting them to our modern world.
Divided into 4 levels – The Reductive Cycle
SDR Level 1 – The Body – Inspired by Yoga (Raja Yoga and Yoga Nidra), this level concentrates on the body, how do I feel in my body, who am I inside? We become aware of the body we live in, focus on the present and we introduce relaxation in movement, body work and breath work, creating visualisations and symbolic stories. The goal is to release tensions, find inner harmony, improve our relationship with ourselves and develop a deeper body awareness.
SDR Level 2 – The Mind & The 5 Senses – Inspired Buddhist contemplation we focus on the mind, contemplate ourselves from the outside and take a positive view of the future, focussing on goals, projects and future events. We work from Buddhist meditation, so peaceful mind and contemplation of inner or external object, without attachments is key and the goal is to improve our relationship with others, develop our 5 senses and our intuition, as if from afar.
SDR Level 3 – The Emotions & Phronic Walk – This is inspired by Japanese Zen, focussing on the interaction of the body & mind, we become aware of the world around us, meditate and begin to recognise things with curiosity and wonder, as if for the first time. We also work on the positive aspects of events from our past, experimenting with meditation sitting and walking with awareness in every moment of everyday life!
SDR Level 4 – Values & All is One – In this level we return to the here and now, awareness of our place in society, we notice the world and feel alive in everyday life and we focus on what our values really are in life!
Objective Reality & Non-judgement
Some techniques suggest we look at things ‘as if for the first time with curiosity and wonder’, a neutral view, listening to our internal sensations without judgement so that any suggestion is left to a minimum to let everyone experience these for themselves.
