Harmony for your Brain…

What can we do if we’re  concerned about our brain health in later years.  This could be the ideal time to find ways to overcome those issues and reduce any worries…

Take time to reflect on what it means to be alive, and maybe keep a diary or journal so you can jot down your feelings or thoughts, helping you record key moments in case you forget something in the future.  Other things that can be changed include keeping your mind & body active, enjoying healthy foods, not smoking, drinking less alcohol, staying in touch with people, and dealing with any health issues.

Mindfulness is recommended by many to help calm a person. It also reduces frustration or anger, which in turn benefits both the carer and the person affected.  There are also reflection and breathwork practices that will help support carers, enabling the individual to live a more relaxed lifestyle.

Learning to include daily breathing techniques will calm you at times of high stress, beneficial to stop thoughts or feelings escalating, which raises anxiety.  Several different exercises will relax you, so you feel happier, especially on bad days or difficult times.  Yoga or gentle movement designed for the older person would also be something that could help.
