No matter how you came to your menopause, whether naturally or surgically, it should be a time for personal self-reflection, discovery, care, love, acceptance, empowerment, and enhancement.
Self-reflection
If you have suffered in the past and have a strong sense of desire to heal areas of stress, anxiety, or unrest, then this is the time to reflect on your life and turn your focus inwards. The Chinese refer to this as their ‘second spring’, a time to heal the past and move forward into the future. Spend time doing a daily mindfulness practice, journal, or try a yoga or meditation therapy.
Self-discovery
Is a time to reveal and embrace your passions, remember your first loves, and pursue your dreams even if life has been a struggle at times. When in menopause you should start to live with curiosity and wonder, making sure your mind, body, spirit, and emotion are connected. Think back to a time when you were happy and find ways to bring that back to your life.
Self-care
This is when you should become more present in every aspect of your life, doing a daily self-care practice that evolves with time as you check in and consider what areas need your attention. Generally, the biggest areas that get neglected are rest & play. You must ensure that you make these things a priority and say no to non-essential activities.
Self-acceptance
A necessary component of self-acceptance is strong mental health, accepting satisfaction, or happiness with yourself. Do not feel under pressure to keep up with anyone else and step into the woman you were meant to be. Choosing to accept yourself so you can move forward, knowing you did your best, you will discover the tools of self-care, self-love, and self-empowerment.
Self-empowerment
Take responsibility for your own life, regain control, and find respect from the total peace, joy, and bliss in life. Where there is darkness, sadness, or depression you can rescue yourself and not give this power away. As you enpower yourself, you’ll appreciate the strength and confidence that comes from this time in your life.
Self-enhancment
It can take a long time for mind and emotional health to stabilise, and you may feel broken at times, but remind yourself that you are in a state of healing and change. Open your heart and mind to the gifts of personal discovery and creative expression, as this will give you a deeper sense of understanding about your passions and ultimate purpose in life.
