Well-being holistic practices give you a variety of different ways to nurture yourself, so make time for your self-care with these 6 keys…

Practices such as Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, amongst others, have been around for hundreds of years, the focus being on the individuals needs as a whole.  Holistic self-care methods are the interconnection between the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing of the whole person.

This is about promoting health & wellbeing through key holistic practices that are person-centrered, prevention & treatment; self-empowerment and integration through many types of therapies.  Take time to nurture your self-care, particularly when strong mental health & wellbeing are so important in the world we live in today…

Nurture: 6 Keys to Self-care
  • Nutrition – Think about fuelling your body with lots of fruit & vegetables, fish such as salmon, mackeral or sardines, eggs, or soya products.  Include nuts & seeds, yoghurts or kefir and reduce the amount of meat you eat, stick to chicken or tofu.  Enjoy the odd weekend treat!
  • Exercise – Try to walk after lunch, and if that becomes easier, then move more in the mornings, include some aerobic exercises or HIIT, but going out in the fresh air will be beneficial for your health & vitality.  The key is to burn more calories than you consume.
  • Mindfulness – There are several different types of mindfulness you can do… The thing to remember is to sit quietly, focus on the breath, and if a thought does come, then notice it, say thank you, and let it move on, then bring your attention back to the breath…
  • Meditation – A more focused experience but equally as relaxing as mindfulness.  There are many different types of meditation you can try, such as Buddhism, yoga, or Zen, and they may involve sitting, standing, or lying down.  Simply find something that works for you is key.
  • Social Support – Look at local groups or clubs where you will find like-minded people, specifically focussed on mutual hobbies or pastimes, you will be able to explore your creativity and share your experiences with each other.
  • Spiritual Practices – Think about events that focus on divine spirituality such as the healing power of crystals, tarot readings, rituals, prayer, or Tai Chi and Qigong.  Look at forest bathing or walks in nature that bring meaningful connections to your life.

There are many things in the world that are out of our control, but by taking good care of yourself you will find the inner strength to move forward happier, with the confidence to succeed, and more able to take on the world again…🌸
