Autogenic training by Dr Johannes Schultz

A relaxation technique used by the wellbeing industry as a relaxation tool to combat stress and anxiety, and a number of other conditions mentioned below. This method has had very good results in the medical world and is used as an aid for those suffering with conditions such as anxiety and depression amongst other things.

It uses repetition with a set of visualisations as a guided practice that can induce a state of relaxation based on the passive concentration of bodily perceptions of heaviness and warmth of the limbs. It is a skill for life and commonly used alongside CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), but equally helpful on it’s own as a ‘self-care’ tool for use anywhere, anytime!

  • Depression or SAD
  • Heart Disease
  • High Blood Pressure

Be my guest, find a quiet, comfortable space, lying or sitting, but if sat in a chair then ensure both feet are planted firmly on the ground, and that you are fully supported at the back of a chair, close your eyes and and relax…
