What is Sophrology?
Sophrology “the science of consciousness in harmony”, is a unique blend of Eastern wisdom meets Western science that can help you manage stress, improve sleep and discover mindful living. Introduced by neuropsychiatrist Professor Alfonso Caycedo in the 1960’s, he was looking to find a way to bring happiness back to the lives of war veterans suffering with PTSD which became his life’s work.
Popular in France and Switzerland it combines the traditional Eastern practices of Yoga, Buddhism and Zen with modern-day stress-management techniques for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including PTSD, insomnia and other conditions listed above through guided breathing, movement and visualisation relaxation exercises. Today, his daughter Natalie Caycedo, continues his work teaching people to become Master Sophrologists in Andorra, France.
It is the practice of gentle guided movement that creates a connection between the body & mind that can elevate the awareness of your inner self, so you feel relaxed and more able to manage stress, enabling you to cope better with the challenges of daily life.
