If you are you looking for new inspiration to get motivated this year, then this could inspire you to get up, get going and make a fresh start!!
It is more important than ever to stay active, particularly in menopause, as with aging, ensuring you keep on top of your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and bone density, that decreases as we get older, will benefit you in the long-term.
For that reason it is worth doing the following things as this will help improve your self-confidence and self-esteem, not to mention your overall health. Always seek medical advice if you are unsure what foods or exercise will benefit you most.
Healthy Eating – Consider your diet and log what you eat, then plan your weekly diet according to your fitness goals. By making a commitment to improve your diet alongside your exercise will get you into the best physical shape possible.
Fresh Air – Many of us spend our days on our phones or laptops, but there are huge benefits from being outside in the fresh air. It doesn’t have to mean pounding the streets, it could be a stroll in nature or a gentle walk in your local area.
Fitness Activity – Try resistance exercises or weight training, all you need is a mat and weights to begin with. Get your gym kit on is the first step to getting those exercises done because once you’re wearing it your brain get the message to start moving.
Group Classes – There are loads of classes you can do that are good for you and not just from the social aspect, but team sports activities such as netball, trampolining, football, line-dancing, aerobic exercises or hobbies such as arts & crafts can also be great for your wellbeing.
Relaxation – Consider activities that work your body & mind such as Yoga, Pilates, or mindfulness and meditation as you can still burn calories. These low-impact exercises can provide flexibility with stretching and relaxation that will keep you supple especially into your latter years.
Indulgence – Self-care can also be joyful so enjoy a treat after a week of “being good” as a reward for your efforts; a hot soak in a bubble bath, a spa pamper day, a body massage, a small glass of wine or celebrate with a meal out with someone special…you’ve earnt it!
Journalling – Plan your meals, your exercise plans, note any feelings, thoughts, or expectations. Set goals or use it simply to unload when things get tough, this is the best form of self-analysis you can do!
Staying fit, eating healthily, getting enough sleep, allowing time for relaxation, and minimising stress are all super important. This type of commitment to your self-care is not always prioritised, but by including ways that work, you will boost your overall health & wellbeing!

Remember – Putting everything in your journal will help you plan, log, and record your daily activities and successes which helps keep you on track so you reach your personal goals.
Reading your journal back after a few weeks will also show you just how far you’ve come.
